Estimated Residential Completions (Calgary · 2025–2027 Outlook)
This dashboard provides an indicative forecast of residential completions across Calgary.
Estimates are derived from the historical median construction duration for each dwelling type
(Apartment / Multi-family, Townhouse / Rowhouse, Semi-Detached / Duplex, Single Detached).
Homes already confirmed in the City’s Property Assessment roll are excluded from the forecast pool.
Method & Caveats
How it’s modelled: For projects still under construction, we project a completion month by applying the historical median duration appropriate to their dwelling type and stage. We then aggregate completions by community and year.
Important: Construction can deviate from median timelines due to weather, trades, financing, design changes, or supply chain issues. Official statuses may also lag behind real-world progress (for example, projects completed but not yet updated to “File Closed”). As a result, this view should be interpreted as an indicative forecast rather than confirmed completions.
Scope Note: Properties already present in the City’s Property Assessment roll are treated as completed and are therefore excluded from the forecast cohort.
📌 How to read this
- Use the Year, Community Sector, and Dwelling Type slicers to focus the forecast.
- The left chart ranks communities by projected completions; the right chart shows the modelled timeline by dwelling type.
- Think of the numbers as best estimates under typical conditions. Reality may finish earlier or later.
Forecasts are most helpful for planning conversations and community context. They are not a guarantee of delivery, but they do show where different housing types are likely to come online next based on typical Calgary build timelines. Use alongside the “Completed” and “Pipeline” views for a full picture of supply.
